Did you know that only around 24% of pet owners board their pets?

Research indicates that many pet owners have the perception that boarding kennels are like jail and pets are confined to small yards with little or no human contact. Nothing could be further from the truth here at Bowhills happy holiday haven.

However their are many good kennels in the Brisbane area who can meet all your pets care needs. At Bowhill Kennels we take pride in providing that extra special care for your much loved pet.

Of course we provide the usual feeding, cleaning, washing, and medication. But at Bowhill Kennels we have someone around your pets all day to provide your pet with some of the 'fun things', such as meeting other pets, playtime, siestas, and a bit of pampering and many more exciting things.

For your pets protection we provide full security for your pets protection. We like to think that we are a mixture of kindergarden and a nursing home rolled into one. All of our guests are very special to us and love to be loved.

There are lots of boarding facilities around and I'm sure that you would like to choose the right one for your pet. Here are a few guidelines from the Kennel Association to help you check out a particular place.

ASK AROUND:

Your friends may know of a good place they have used. Your Vet usually gets feedback from his clients. Have a look through the Yellow Pages but remember that sometimes as in all businesses big adverts may simply mean that they are desperate for customers.

THEN TELEPHONE THE ONES THAT MAY MEET YOUR REQUIREMENTS:

You could get a feel by the tone of the person on the phone. Is he really interested? You could ask what the establishment offers, what particular requirements your pet may have? The "how much" question is only relevant from the point of value for money. A cheap boarding rate that ends up with an expensive vet bill is not cheap in the long run.

VISIT:

If you can spare the time visit personally. Ask to have a look at where your pet will be holidaying. Look for general hygiene and cleanliness. Look at the pets already there, do they look happy and well cared for? Do the staff appear to be efficient?

SOME EXTRA QUESTIONS COULD BE ...

What do you feed? What are the procedures in an emergency? Do you have a Vet on call? How are charges calculated? What are your vaccination requirements? Tell them something about your pet, soon you will be asking lots more questions until you feel as if you have got the full picture of that particular place. Its a good idea if you are checking a few places out to make notes as you go so that you dont get confused.

DECISION MAKING TIME.

Make some type of rating list, from the questions you have asked. You will want the best quality you can get for you pet. Go back and ask further questions if something is not clear to you.

WHEN YOU MAKE THE BOOKING PLAN AHEAD:

The quality establishments are always heavily booked. So ensure that you make a reservation well ahead if it is at peak times.

THEN GO ON YOUR OWN HOLIDAY CONFIDENT THAT
YOUR BEST FRIEND IS HAVING A GREAT TIME TOO!
